The First Island - Ngazidja (Grand Comore)
Ngazidja is the heart of Comoros, it contains the grand capital of Comoros, Moroni. Ngazidja is the most recent island formed that is part of Comoros, a volcano erupted underwater, which created Ngazidja. The island is sixty-seven kilometers in length and twenty-seven kilometers wide, with a grand total of 1,146 square kilometers. Ngazidja features two volcanoes, one of them is dormant while the other one is still active. The first one, La Grille, is located in the north and rises 1,000 meters above sea level and is largely eroded and extinct. Kartala, in the south, is 2,361 meters high and last erupted in 1977. Since the soil of Ngazidja is thin and rocky (because it's new), it cannot hold water so rain must collected in tanks. Ngazidja has no coral reefs and lacks a harbor for ships which means trading is hard.
The Second Island - Mwali (Moheli)
Moheli is the third largest island of the three dominant ones that make up Comoros, just behind Anjouan. It is located in the Indian Ocean just by the coast of the Africa. Despite Comoros having it's capital in Ngazidja, all the other islands have their own capital, Mwali's is Fomboni, which is located in the northern side of the country. The island also contains a park that is protected by the government called the Moheli Marine Park.
The Third Island - Anjouan (Nzwani)
Anjouan, or Nzwani in French, is the second largest island of the three Comorian islands. It has, also, the second most populated island out of three. It is 424 sq kilometers big and a population of 277,500. The capital of Anjouan is Moroni, same as Ngazidja.
