Comoros' National Clothes
Despite the French influence, the locals wear their own clothes. Typically, Comorians wear western-style clothing but traditional clothes are very common among the older people, mainly adults.
Women's clothing consists of Shiromeni, a kind of clothing act that is a long, colored dress with a skirt. Comorian women also wear bright shawls (or scarfs) around their face as a face covering. Another way that women in Comoros dress like is using sandal-wood and coral paste as a type of "beauty mask" for their faces. This creates a kind of creamy, white paste, that they put on their face, although some Comorian women don't do it. |
Men in Comoros wear clothing made of cotton, and a skirt that goes up to the legnth of their knee. They sometimes wear a white jacket and a white skull cup, they wear white because of the raging heat in Comoros. When men go out of town, they wear a long, colorful skirt called a sarong. Although, young males tend to wear traditional western clothing over their own kind. Older ones, however, prefer the traditional Comorian clothes instead.
